Cultivate Your Ability

It's crazy world .Many of us try to imitate others.

If your neighbour gets the latest Smart TV,  you scramble to get the same for your home also.

When the kids of your friend study in a good college, making all efforts to see your children also get admission in the same place.

If you friend buys a new jewellery, yearning to do the same thing.

Why not we understand the needs that are appropriate to us?
Why don't we realise what is our potential and make a difference out of it.

Each person has distinct and inherent skill.
The one who identifies and develops that innate ability is bound to shine in life.

This is the secret of all successful personalities.

Terminal Illness

A  disease or affliction which cannot be cured but the sufferings are unbearable, the condition is termed as Terminal Illness.  Very aged people also said to suffer this.

Naturally, the person affected by this TI will loose faith in his existence and will wish to die at the earliest by some means: either with medical assistance or self killing. But no law permits homicide and in fact, it punishes  the patient and the person who assists for such self killing.

Strange are the ways of Laws !

But we don't let animals suffer, so why humans?

People with TI are in great pain and distress and they should have the right to end their lives.

Both terminally ill persons and those who help them to die , should be free from prosecution.

Be What You are

Trying to copy others will land you in trouble. Even your life will be at peril.

A Sparrow cannot become an Eagle even if it flies high. But risk of being shot by an arrow is more.
A Dog can never be a Tiger even if it wears the skin of Tiger.

Like wise, by having a stethoscope, you cannot become a Doctor.
Neither a Black gown wouldn't make you a Lawyer.

The list is endless.

The consequences of assuming the role of others are several and severe.

Each person has an individuality which needs to be polished and maintained.

Simple truth is this.

Remain what you are and Not as What are you not.

Never Give up

No sincere person will face defeats:surely that person  is on the road of fortune.

These are the guiding words from Lord Krishna found in Bhagavad Gita.

Like Sun rising after gloom of night and Rain pours after summer, success is bound to  follow your defeats.

So never give up till you succeed.

Turn Failure into Success

Every situation throws up winners as well as losers.
However with a change in your attitude, defeat can be turned into victory.

The world is full of examples of people who were once called as failure and flops but they persisted and proved to become legends.

Never feel crest fallen when you face failures.

Failures actually serve to look back and gain experience and insight for future success.

There is no history of continuous failures.

Believe it.

You are sure to taste success after any number of failures.

Light shines surely after a dark-filled tunnel.

Live like a Lotus

Just as a lotus remains untouched by the water even when lying in that water, a person who works without any attachment towards the fruits of his actions and further assigns them to God, always remains untouched by evil."

- Lord Krishna in " Bhagavad Gita"

This means we should swim the ocean of life without being drowned in it.
But by remembering the Almighty all the time.

That is the best and only way to Salvation.

Get Rid of Pride

Truth is omnipresent but we fail to realize it through our conscious efforts.
Listen to what Lord Krishna says in  the Bhagavad Gita

"I encompass this entire creation in my invisible form. All creatures depend on me, but I am not dependent on them.
And yet they do not live in me.
While I am the maintainer and the source of them, my Self is not contained in them.
Just as the wind  found in the sky, blows everywhere, so are all beings found in me."

Never take credit for your works but to God.
Never get carried that nobody knows your silent and secret actions.

There is one Overseer for your life. Anywhere. Anytime.

Instant Rich

A Man became the richest person in the world for one day.

The reason is PayPal credited his account with USD 92,233,720,368,547,800!!!

All due to a technical error. But few hours later, PayPal sent a zero-balance message.

What would have been the reaction of that man.

Balance your Mind & Heart

Many a times our mind and heart are at loggerheads.

Mind always deals with materialistic world whereas Heart with emotional aspects.

Only with constant practice and determination, these can be kept under control.

Meditation soothes both mind and heart and enables a person to regain his mental power.

FHP

FHP is the acronym for Forward Head Posture.

Putting your head forward repeatedly during your actions in the daily life is called as FHP.
Some of the examples of such actions are: watching TV,looking into the computer, riding a bike , brushing your teeth, eating habit, sleeping posture.

These strain in sticking your neck out could lead to  this condition of FHP.

FHP starts with neck or shoulder pain with impact to the pain of muscles closer to them.

Head ache, Neck pain , Tooth ache and Disc prolapse are problems arising out of FHP.

How to prevent this FHP?

- Have correct sitting posture
- Have Eye level position of your computer monitor or TV but at least 2 feet away from you.
- Have back support when riding or sitting if you feel strain in your neck or back
- Have regular physical exercise like walking, jogging, etc..preferably in the morning or evening.

Teacher

Generally , the word Teacher is used to refer to the person who works in a school.

No. The term " Teacher" has a broad meaning.

Any person or any thing that provides the guidance and information can be called a Teacher.

Website, Newspaper, Magazine, Book, Neighbour in any place, Bird, Animal, etc..

"Nature"is the best teacher as it encompasses innumerable types of teachers.

You can learn the value of time and punctuality from Sun, Birds, etc...
Value of labour from Ants, Insects,etc..
Selfless service from Tress, plants,etc...
Usefulness through the Fruits, Flowers, etc..
Sacrifice from the Honeybees .

You can list out many such teachers.

Let us salute all that help your life. In turn, it's our duty to help these teachers in the best possible way.

Keep track of your affairs

One lady opened a $1000 a month deposit account and regularly paid the monthly deposit.

But it was only at the time of maturity after 3 years , she realised she had keyed in the wrong account code, making some other person $39000 richer.

Thanks to the data protection, she will never know who received her money.

So better keep track of your transactions: especially financial ones.
This will not make feel sorry for your own silly mistakes.

Remember HIM

You should remember God at all times.

Even if you can't think about Him throughout each day initially,
miss not the three occasions as below.

1. After waking up in the morning, pray " bless me with good day"
2. When eating, thank the god for the good food and everything and also say prayer as " provide me with good sense and love through this food"
3. Before going to sleep, thank Him again for a good day and also seek His grace to retain His thoughts".

Values

- Do not harm anybody even unknowingly and even if you cannot help others.
- Don't be an obstacle, for reasons of ego or enmity, whenever good actions are done.
- Do not poke your nose into the personal life of others.
- Don't see the negative sides of any good deeds or words

Always seek the positive aspects of anything.
Appreciate the water flowing in a river and not worry about where from it comes.
Enjoy the cool moonlight instead of breaking your head over the source of that coolness.

Go Green

Development at the cost of our own life.
Indiscriminate Felling of trees for all our needs has led to the present situation of climatic changes and slow down of our life itself.
We should plant more trees around our households to reduce the snow balling effects of erosion of green cover.
A recent picture found in Facebook has made this point loud and clear.

Why People Behave in a Casual way ?

Many people live in a very casual way: only caring for those things that make them temporarily happy but ignoring those aspects of life which make them live longer and happy.

I know an elderly friend of mine.
He has the habit of keeping the cosmetics for his make up when going on a tour.

Whenever gets minor illness like cold or headache,  he will seek the help of the attendants of the hotel that he stays in. If no medicine or assistance is available, he will start abusing the hotel staff, complain about the poor facilities in that place and even he would think of vacating the otherwise-good hotel for this trivial reason.

If  the basic medicines are kept with him, the above situation could be managed easily.

Never blame others for your casualness.

Two old persons

I have two elderly persons as my office colleagues.
Both are aged around 61 years but they retired from two different banks as Managers.

But they are of contrasting character.

One is very fast and sharp in making decisions. Naturally, he is active in all aspects including the basics to use the internet.  He keeps up with time and  interested in more spare time after work. But he is little bit greedy of money and prefers to make money in all possible ways.Naturally, he tends to undertake the assignments from more than one place. Rare is the occasion to claim by self that he is smart and systematic.

The only reason that this guy quotes for all this hunger for money is " All money is to gladden the grand children of his four daughters.

The other friend is slow in mind and action. Not taking interest in computer, Internet,etc.. Eats a lot but shows less output:spends more time and energy for the same work compared to the time spent by the former. The reason for such low productivity quoted by himself as " systematic and error free method adopted by him". Even for This  man gives lengthy speeches at the fall of every occasion unmindful of the mindset of the audience. But all the times, he would proclaim that he is a straight forward person that's why people use to fear him.

However two things are common for them: Age and Desire to make money.

The former is a man of initiative whilst the latter lacks it.

Let us take the good of both and discard the bad aspects.

In short, lead your life happily  by smart and effective use of all opportunities that come to you for making more value addition to the place where you are.

Do not waste the precious time for useless talk and actions.

Sunday, August 25, 2013

Gratitude

Count the good things in your life and cherish the blessings you got.
Count not the troubles and sufferings

Become a less of a complainer and more of a thanks giver.
Automatically you problems will be managed.

Remembering the good things will make you a positive and joyous person.
Memory of bad things and past problems will ruin your future also.

Talk less

Don't be a talkative person.

Always speak less which should make the listener to yearn for more.

Do more in actions rather than words. This would instil confidence and give motivation to others.

People of few words achieved more in actions than the talkative .

Silence is still better than few words. Because it saves your energy.

Mania

How many manias are there?
Endless .
You can create a list of your liking by adding the word"mania".
Example : Mango mania for your interest in mango eating.

Read the list of common phobias given elsewhere in this site.

You just remove the last syllable"phobia" and replace it with "mania".
That's it, you get the different manias or likings of people.

Twins

Our life is full of twins. They are meant to stabilise our life.

Joy and Sorrows.
Hard work and Rest.
Birth and Death.
Day and Night.
Summer and Winter.

These twins always fall in line one after another.

What if one of these two does not occur in this fashion of alternation?

So everything is well set into our environment or Nature.

Prudence

Self Care is the best care.

Whatever be your level of income, use the money ,thus earned judiciously.

The best priority can be as follows.

First, take care of your health: to eat and live happily.
Second, save a portion of the income for emergency.
Last but not the least, save a portion for your family welfare : in the form of investments as housing, gold, etc.

To protect against the effects of inflation and unexpected events like illness and accident,
take life insurance policy, preferably a term plan.

Deep Sea

Waves on sea are a pleasure to watch. But many of us fail to visualise what lies under those waves of water.

Who dives into the sea will see the fish.
Still below that level, snails and conch can be seen.
But who goes deeper to the seabed stands to see the treasures like pearls, mountains, valleys, etc...

Likewise, persons who can understand their potentials that are hidden deep in the minds would make great achievements for the benefit of the entire mankind. Saints, Leaders, Scientists are examples to prove this.

Monday, August 19, 2013

Be Yourself

Many people try to imitate others under the impression of they would get identity and recognition .
Actually, they stand to lose themselves.

Instead they should identify and develop the inherent potential which is unique to them.

To be precise, Discover the power hidden within you.

All great Achievers had this quality in common.

Lord Krishna preached this through Bhagvad Gita as

" One should act according to one's own nature. Even if this appears faulty, this is better than doing something unnatural. Better to die engaged in duties appropriate of one's nature because unnatural work only brings evil and danger to everybody.

Squirrel

This is the only animal which is active and harmless in our world.
Such a naughty but cute creature around us.

If you just watch the activities of a squirrel for a while, definitely you will get inspiration in life.

Independence Day

Independence of Country means equal treatment to all those live in that country.
Independence is about the Inter-dependance among us for collective growth of the society though the improvement of individuals.

Independence will last only if there is awareness about its value and the responsibilities of each person living in the Country.

Let us thank those who sacrificed their lives for our Independence.
Let us preserve this valuable freedom for enhancing the quality of our life.

Fools

Human being is generally called as a Social Animal. But with a anti-social instinct.

Other life forms like insects, animals, etc get satisfaction from what they have .
Home sapiens is always greedy and breeding hate and enmity though pretend to be of helping tendency.

What else you will say about the Strained relationships among many countries. Every time
the political bosses sport a smile during their bilateral meets but nurture enmity secretly.

Saturday, August 10, 2013

How to identify the Potential within ....

Write down the strong and weak points of self.
Pick up the strongest as your potential. Improve and polish that strength to become the expert.

For instance, you might be a good singer than a lecturer. Learn the techniques and nuances of singing to upgrade from one level to another which will make you confident and superior in singing faculty.

Mystery

Same material is liquid as water, solid as ice and vapour as stream.
Three states of matter cannot be explained in a better way than this.

Human beings are a bundle made of these three .

Blood is the liquid.
Bones and flesh are the solids.
Soul or life is the vapour.

Better understand these facts to realise the fact that basically everything in nature is one and the same. And try to maintain the equilibrium of life.

No Entry

Entering another person's property or place without right or permission constitutes an encroachment.
But many do not mind the hatred and penalties that they invite in the process.

Will you tolerate if somebody interrupts your viewing of your favourite TV show?
Of course, you will do involuntarily, when the interruptor says these words " Sorry for the disturbance"

Some people have the nasty habit of telephoning during the late night hours....because they don't get sleep....neither wouldn't allow you.

Respect others privacy and liberty. That's the greatest help ever you can do the fellow beings.

Believe it or not...

No ! No!
This is not about the Ridley's TV show.
It's about the belief in God.

Atheism is more than just the knowledge that gods do not exist, and that religion is either a mistake or a fraud.
Atheism is an attitude, a frame of mind that looks at the world objectively, fearlessly.

Woody Allen once wrote " To You, I'm an atheist. To God, I'm the loyal opposition."

Only who realised or felt , they would believe in God. But till then, an atheist only.

Electricity in a cable is not believed by a person until he gets shock from it.
That's the feeling or belief in God.

Friendship Day

People always make friends of equal status.

Poor with poor.
Affluents with rich.
Enemies of enemies.
Drunkards with drunkards.
Thieves with thieves.
Passengers with passenger.
Workers with same workers.
Officers with officers.
Scholars seek scholars.
Saints with saints.

Very rarely, people of unequal status become friends.
Such relationship is either short-lived or long-lasting.

But true relationship of mutual trust and help leads to everlasting.
The one for temporal gains will break away sooner than later.

4th August is Friendship Day.
Remember to be a Good friend to even your opponent.

Aim High

Think big and act boldly. Aim high and dream big! Small desire produces small results, just as a small fire produces little heat.

Some cool quotes on this concept:

"Fortune favors the bold but abandons the timid." -Latin Proverb

"When you think big, your results are big." -Thomas J. Vilord

"The person who goes farthest is generally the one who is willing to do and dare. The sure-thing boat never gets far from shore." -Dale Carnegie

"Seize this very minute! Boldness has genius, power, and magic in it." -John Aster

War not Human nature

New study of tribal societies finds warfare not innate concept but a recent phenomenon invented by so called 'Civilised' societies.

Researchers found that some of the most 'primitive' people on Earth were actually quite peaceful compared to modern nations.

What doe the above indicate ?

Education and Development have corrupted human societies resulting in greed and conflicts.

Merit

Favouritism and Nepotism are the products of our greed for money and power.

People corrupt the otherwise clean system to serve their selfish needs. More damage is done by the politicians with ulterior motive.

That is why undeserving and incompetent people come to occupy many vital posts of any organisation, be it private or public.

In short, Incompetent people are made Competent Authorities.

The outcome is the permanent collapse of the administration resulting in chaos and loss to the general public.

Trap

A group of five men set up a trap to get deer for food when they were looking for rare wood that is used in making incense and perfume.

Accidentally a tiger hub got into to the trap. This irritated five tigers in the area to attack the men.

Fearing the angry tigers, these men climbed the nearby tree. But one met with the fate by falling from the broken tree branch. The terrible tigers mauled him to death.

However, other four men remained on top of the tree without food but survived through rainwater. However, the tigers waited below the tree.

Later the animals were chased away by the rescue team to save the fortunate four men who starved to almost death.

MORAL : Never venture into others territory for the sake of greed to make money or power.

Foot

Each and everything has a beginning or a base.

-Foundation to a Building
-Root to a Tree
-Ancestor to a Person
-Capital to a Business
-Character to a Behaviour
-Origin to a River

Likewise your feet remains the fundamental for your growth .
Because , it bears all your weight and toil.

Take care of your feet.

Rules

Rules must remain to rule the constituents or players but not to rule out the very existence of the players.

Too much always spoils anything.

If you set rules for each and everything, nobody will like you.

Rules should be heathy to motivate the subjects to take interest.

Then only, growth and development is possible.

If you put more conditions for your child to grow, he will never like to grow.

Some countries have a complex system of regulations which actually create a non-positive climate for any new investment or trade to flourish.

Guts

Talents alone cannot get you success. You should have efforts and guts to perform.

Many a person fall in the first category. That's why they miserably fail.

To put it differently , those who have grit and determination turned out to be great Achievers in life.

Steve Job of Apple has once said"One who has courage to follow his heart will succeed".

Sincerity Pays

Sathasivam is from a family of farmers.
His father and two brothers are farmers.
His two sisters are also married to farmers.

Sathasivam would work with his father in the farm during morning and evening during his school days.

His youger brother studied engineering but Sathasivam advised him to take up organic farming.
Sathasivam will join this brother after retirement.

Do You know who is this Sathasivam ?

Mr Sathasivam has recently taken charge of the top post of jurisprudence.

He is the 40th Cheif Justice of India.

Spitting in Public places ?

Beware People of London district.

London authorities are planning to ban the spitting in public places?
That doesn't mean you can spit in any other place.

Spitting in other than public places is to be decided by the people and it's left to their discretion.

But good and thoughtful would never spit or smoke or drink in any public places.

Rare Life

Life is rare
Live with care.

That's the beautiful slogan I noticed in a residential construction site.
Actually it is intended for the safety of the people working in the site.

I feel it's the value ridden slogan to understand how precious is our life.

Let us live, care and help others to live in peace and joy.

Plants talk

Plants and trees have life like us.
They talk and grow like us.
Their life is visible in the form of growth and their wilting when soil or air becomes dry due to
heat . They like sunlight very much as their bending and creeping towards the sunlight confirms.

They also talk secretly.
Research study in China has found that when a tomato plant gets infected with leaf blight( a condition where the leaves wear a charred and dry appearance), nearby plants start activating genes that help ward off the infection. This occurred even if all airflow between the plants has been eliminated.

So treat every grass, plants and trees with love and care.

What Bhagvadgita says about Mind

Warrior Arjuna said: O God, the mind is an unsteady thing.Hence it is unrealistic to expect evenness out of it. It is easier to control the wind than to try controlling the mind. I how to exercise control over it?.

The Lord Krishna said: No doubt, the unsteady mind is difficult to control. However, it can be done so by repeated practice and detachment from the environ".

Cleanliness

Nobody likes a filthy and shabby place.
Similarly, goodness will come to us only when we get rid of the undesirable habits like anger, greed ,revenge, bluff,etc...

Our mind becomes godly when we possess clean and true habits.

God resides in you once the purity and sacrifice enter into the mind.

Prayer

Prayers are meant for claiming welfare .

But many people behave selfishly in this respect as they pray for fulfilment of their self interest like success in studies, winning contracts and deals and for good Heath and wealth.

Community Prayers are done for the welfare of an individual or the society.

Rarely ,very few individuals like Saints and Religious leaders pray for the welfare of others or the communities.

Why an individual should do the prayer for the welfare of all life forms that exist on the earth.
This will make us a Broad-minded person without selfishness. Ultimately this will breed fraternity and peace for all of us.

Air Pollution

WHO estimates say air pollution is responsible for over a million premature deaths worldwide every year.

Short-term exposure to major air pollutants seems to increase heart failure risks

This is the finding from a review of data collected in 12 countries published in The Lancet Wednesday, a medical journal.

The study found that a modest dip in the levels of fine particulate matter found in exhaust fumes and industrial air pollutants could prevent about 8000 heart failure hospitalisation s and save more than $300 million in the US alone.

Perception

Light has no colour.
But when seen through a prism or water drop, different colours are exhibited.
So it the interference that makes the difference.
Likewise, God is one but the different religions create the unwanted hatred and discrimination.

One who realises this truth is bound to love everything in this world.

Fat Popualtion

The Fattest countries in the world are measured as the percentage of obese adults to the country population.
1. Mexico  - 32.8%
2.  USA    -  31.8%
3.  Syria    -  31.6%

And the Thinnest country is Japan with 4.5%

12% of the World's total population is obese.

This is based on the latest UN report.

Whose mistake anyway ?

This is an interesting news item I read recently.

A goose was arrested for "pecking people".
Because a woman made a complaint with the local police that the goose had attacked her five-year old daughter and the animal was terrorising the neighbourhood.

But Animal rights activists were outraged and demanded immediate release of the bird and an inquiry into this.

Might be the animal behaved in its own natural way in contrast to human beings system.
A simple case of misunderstanding of the animal's mind.

Wimbledon

The name has become synonymous of the sport Tennis.

Such a legacy surrounds this British place.

It has produced many champions belonging to other nations.

But the sheer handwork and grit of Andy Murray earned him the coveted Grand slam .

That too after a very long gap of 77 years, he won the championship for England.

Salute the dedication of this sportsman.

Great works never go unrewarded though belatedly.

Under estimate

Each and everything in our world is useful in one way or other.

So do not underestimate anything.

Even a small grass serves as the feed for small worm and insects. Also it binds the earth.
The tiny prickle or needle helps us to stitch the cloth or button.
Slimy earthworm protects and enriches our earth : in turn, other life forms including us.

Even your enemy not to be undervalued .

Give and take value from everything that is around you.

Eat Fresh

Use fresh water, vegetables and other food . That too, locally available food is the best for our healthy life.

Shun the processed and canned foods or drinks to the possible extent.
Because, the stored and frozen food always undergoes the chemical changes and become unfit for consumption.

Remember, Technology always comes with a cost.
That's why organic farming and its products are advocated of late.

Food

Never waste the precious food. There are millions of people starving for even little food.

About 1.3 billions tons of food are wasted every year.
According to Food & Agriculture Organisation(FAO), more than 20000 children under. To age of five, die from hunger everyday. One in every seven people in the world remains hungry each day.

Smart Way

Food carriers, popularly known as Dabbawalas of Mumbai, India have a smart way of serving the people for peace and happiness.

About 120 tons of food is transported every day by these Dabbawalas but 16 tons of this food is wasted on a day.

Smart is the Dabbawalas Foundation who came up with the unique concept of "share my dabba". Those who have left over food in their lunch boxes can simply paste a red "Share" sticker on their dabba.

Once segregated based on red mark, the food left over in the dabbas is passed on to the volunteers who feed 2 lake hungry children in Mumbai.

Punctuality

Punctuality is alright but not at the cost of other's inconvenience and happiness.

It's better to be late than never. Speaks out and express rather than feeling sorry later. Consulting a doctor even after the disease is better instead of suffering infinitely.

Again better to be late than to be Mr/Ms.Late.
Driving rashly to reach in time is a foolish act.

Life is precious when compared to time.
Happiness is more important to a person whose life is nearing end
